MANIFEST COMMUNITY VISIONING & POTLUCK

1st Tuesday each month

To help men reflect on what’s really important to them as we move into a New Year (and probably a new era), and to find deeper community through sharing from our hearts …  Manifest invites men and their allies to two FREE community sharing circles:

COMMUNITY VISIONING CIRCLE & POTLUCK

Tuesday, 1/5/10

·         5-6:30pm Potluck

·         6:30-8pm Passionate Resolve Circle

·         Manifest Studio, 4906 NE 22nd (1/2 block so. of NE Alberta St.), Portland, Ore. 97211

·         FREE to all

Share about the passions you’ll be pursuing in the New Year:  we want to hear about the adventures, indulgences, and flights of fancy you’re planning in the new year.  (We’re sure you can get other people to listen to your boring resolutions about losing weight, getting more exercise, and saving for retirement.)

Facilitated by Christophe Leroy, a Sacred Storyteller & Shamanic Energy Healer.

WE’RE BEING CALLED TO REASSESS:  Amidst all the recent financial, environmental, political, and social upheaval, many of us are beginning to sense that the core values and routines of our culture may be changing in some fundamental ways.  We’re all being asked to reassess what is really important to us, what will sustain us in a world that seems to be undergoing some deep & unpredictable changes.

TAKING TIME TO REFLECT, LISTEN, & SHARE:   We want to experiment with a new/old way of learning.  We want to take time to reflect and quiet our minds and hearts.  We want to share what arises in us that seems real and true.  We want to listen carefully and with an expectation that what we hear may affirm some barely conscious sense we have of what is happening to us beneath the surface – or that what we hear could shake us to our core, telling us something quite unexpected about what we’re feeling and what we really want.

FUN ARISES:  While it may sound as if this gathering will be heavy and very significant, our experience is that when people eat well, sit quietly and reflect, and then begin to share & listen, lightness and even joy begin to arise.  You see, humans have been breaking bread, reflecting and sharing and listening since we became human.  These activities fulfill a deep longing in our collective unconscious, and they put us and our concerns in perspective.  How can you help but laugh and forget your drama when you realize you’re not alone in your dreams, fears, frustrations, and odd attachments!

LOGISTICS:  The Community Visioning Passionate Resolve Circle will take place at the Manifest Studio (near NE Alberta & 22nd), will be drug, alcohol, and smoke free, and is open to men of all ages and their allies.  We encourage everyone to bring delicious food & beverages to share (although you may attend the sharing circle even if you can’t attend the potluck).

WHAT TO BRING:

* Food &/or non-alcoholic beverage you love (to share with several other people)

* A friend or acquaintance who could find it useful to share ideas on keeping up spirits & energy in fall & winter.

SHAMANIC STORY-TELLING:  For many men in the Portland area, this has been a year of big challenges, change, & realignment of priorities.  Christophe Leroy, a Shamanic Healer & Sacred Story-telling Guide who has worked with a lot of local men going through important transitions this year, will facilitate a community story-telling forum on men's wellness.

SPONSOR:   This event is part of a series of free monthly Community Visioning Circles on the 1st Tuesday designed to create dialogue among diverse men & their allies about the kind of men’s community we want, and is sponsored by Manifest, a non-profit men’s wellness community.
